VIRTUAL THERAPY THROUGHOUT ARIZONA

Online Therapy for Grief, ADHD & Life Transitions in Arizona

Therapy that feels like a conversation- with room for the hard stuff, humor, and everything in between.

THERAPY THAT FEELS LIKE A CONVERSATION

You’re allowed to be a person here.

I’m not particularly good at the blank-face therapist thing.

I’m going to talk to you. I’ll ask questions. I’ll laugh with you. I’ll notice patterns, remember oddly specific things you told me three sessions ago, and stop you when you casually mention handling something completely differently than you would have six months ago.

I think of therapy as pretty collaborative. You’re driving; I’m your copilot. I can help you figure out where we’re going and occasionally point out that we seem to have driven around the same block seventeen times.

HOW I CAN SUPPORT YOU

For the grief, the brain stuff & everything happening at the same time.

ADHD & Neurodivergence

The email you’ve avoided for eleven days. The task you want to do but cannot seem to start. The brain that somehow opened 36 tabs before breakfast.

We’ll figure out what actually works for your brain instead of wishing it worked differently.

LGBTQ+ & Gender-Affirming Therapy

You shouldn’t have to spend therapy explaining or defending who you are- or wondering if your therapist actually gets it.

As a queer therapist myself, this is more than an affirming space. You can just show up as yourself, and we’ll start from there.

Life Transitions & Young Adulthood

Careers, grad school, relationships, moving, identity, family stuff, and the realization that apparently we’re supposed to know how to be adults now.

When life feels like one big “okay, what now?” we can figure it out together.

Grief & Loss

Grief has a way of showing up in more places than we expect- death, relationships, health, identity, big life changes, and the future you thought you’d have.

There’s no perfect way to do grief. We’ll figure out what living with yours looks like, together and without judgment.

WHY FOREGLOW?

A little light before the sunrise.

Foreglow is the first hint of light in the morning, before the sun actually comes up.

I loved that idea for this practice because so much of therapy starts when things feel uncertain, heavy, or just really hard. You don’t have to be on the other side of it yet. You don’t even have to know what the other side looks like.

Sometimes the first shift is smaller than that. Something feels a little more manageable. You understand yourself a little better. You realize you handled something differently this time. You start to believe that the thing that felt impossible might not always feel that way.

That’s foreglow.

The light isn’t all the way here yet. But it’s coming.

MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Hi, I’m Katie.

Katie Zicarelli Gesell, LCSW

Fun fact: I did not want to be a therapist.

I knew I wanted to work with grievers, but I pictured nonprofit work and groups. At my first private practice job, I actually told them I wasn’t interested in seeing individual clients.

They talked me into trying it.

Turns out...they were onto something.

What made me stay is getting to watch people slowly realize they’re handling things they once thought they couldn’t.

I’m conversational, compassionate, adaptable, queer, neurodivergent, a griever myself, and occasionally direct when the situation calls for it. I also firmly believe humor belongs in therapy.

Yes, even grief therapy.

WHAT THERAPY CAN ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE

Sometimes we talk about your feelings. Sometimes we send the freaking email.

My background in vocational rehabilitation means I’m pretty comfortable getting into the actual logistics of your life. I’ve spent years working with people with disabilities and barriers to employment, so practical support has always been part of how I work.

Clients have made phone calls with me, filled out forms, written messages, folded laundry, colored, made lunch, and brought whatever fidget their brain currently requires. Therapy doesn’t have to look a certain way to count.

We’ll figure out what actually works for you.

INVESTMENT

Okay, let’s talk logistics.

Therapy is an investment of your time, energy, and money, and you deserve to know what that looks like before you get started.

Individual Therapy
$150 per 50-minute session

Insurance
I’m currently in-network with Aetna and United Health Care, with additional insurance panels in progress. If I’m out-of-network with your plan, I can also be able to provide a superbill for you to submit for possible reimbursement.

Sliding Scale
Sliding-scale spots are available for clients paying out of pocket. I use the Green Bottle Method as a guide so that choosing a rate can be based on your actual financial circumstances- not on having to prove whether you’re “struggling enough.”

Have a question about cost, insurance, or what rate makes sense for you? You can ask before scheduling. No awkwardness required.

VIRTUAL THERAPY THROUGHOUT ARIZONA

Okay. Want to talk about it?

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you reach out. Honestly, figuring some of it out is kind of the point.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will talk with you, laugh with you, challenge you when you need it, and meet you wherever you’re starting from- I’d love to hear from you.
